H.M.S. Pinafore

You're invited to the grand opening of the H.M.S. Pinafore!

EUSOG, Edinburgh’s longest-running musical theatre society, is thrilled to welcome you on board for the opening of the H.M.S. Pinafore this March! With over 100 productions under its belt, performing three a year and ranging from traditional Broadway classics to Gilbert & Sullivan operetta, this EUSOG show is a modern interpretation of a best-loved classic, presented by a talented, enthusiastic cast and an equally punchy band.

The gentlemanly Captain Corcoran has a daughter, Josephine, who is in love with a lowly but gallant sailor named Ralph Rackstraw. The Captain forbids a marriage, preferring the well-bred Sir Joseph, First Lord of the Admiralty, as a partner for Josephine. Meanwhile, Captain Corcoran is also troubled by his own love life. Little Buttercup, his former nanny, falls in love with him but he hesitates to reciprocate due to his higher social rank. The whole situation is complicated further when Little Buttercup reveals a game-changing secret she has kept for decades…

Our production of H.M.S Pinafore has had a jazzy upgrade, now set on a present day cruise ship complete with cheesy holiday entertainment. Expect a big band sound, fun dance numbers and Hawaiian shirts - it’s H.M.S. Pinafore as you’ve never seen it before!
