We are very happy to announce that the Bedlam Film Festival will take place for the first time throughout August 2016, giving a diverse range of incredible film-makers and video artists a place amongst Bedlam Theatre Fringe’s extremely strong performance programme. Screenings will span short and features; comedy, vampires, stories of political resistance and B-Movies all have their place. Additionally, a large proportion of the festival will centre around artists’ moving image, frequently presented by some of the UK’s dynamic and exciting alternative performers. Although the film festival is not limited to any one theme, the programme presents an awareness of the immediate contexts of the church building and the wider urban festival, whilst placing particular emphasis on queer and feminist themes, performance, the carnivalesque, quotation, digitized experience, spirituality and horror. We are proud to be partnered with well-established Edinburgh-based film and artists’ moving image organisations as well as those further afield. These have manifested in showcase nights from Edinburgh Artists’ Moving Image Festival (EAMIF), Scottish Documentary Institute, Scottish Queer International Film Festival (SQIFF), Africa in Motion (AiM), Edinburgh Short Film Festival (ESFF), Take One Action, Brainchild, and Pollyanna.
